Postpartum Depression is no joke. Trust me, I know. During that time of my life I considered it as the darkest moments because I never felt so weak, vulnerable and low ever before. I had to force myself out of bed everyday. Simple tasks were so hard to get done and not being able to care for myself, I struggled to care for my baby in the ways she deserved.
After months of counseling (which did not work, FYI) I realized that true healing and recovery is within me. I had to find that strength, pull energy from somewhere to give me that motivation to get my ass up and moving.
I decided to focus on the good stuff that happened in the past and once I was able to draw that positive energy to the present, I started focusing on the good things that happened throughout the day like, getting the dishes done, folding laundry, taking a shower, homeschooling my 5 year old. These became accomplishments for me and by accomplishing these little tasks, I was motivated to set bigger ones and work on those.
